Fertilizers & Chemicals FZE: Facilities
SPIC Fertilizers and Chemicals' manufacturing facility for
urea and ammonia at Jebel Ali Free Zone has been relocated
from Sri Lanka. The plant has been redesigned by M W Kellogg
Ltd, UK, to suit conditions at the new site.
Some key enhancements to the original plant design: a sizeable
improvement in capacity; change in the feedstock and fuel
system from naphtha and fuel oil to natural gas; conversion
of the old single-loop electronic control system to an advanced
distributed control system to improve accuracy and reliability
of operations; and use of sea water for cooling.
