SPIC’s focus is on achieving sustainability by improving the production processes through introduction of new technologies for cleaner environment.

SPIC has carried out the following environmental protection improvement measures

• Acoustic Granulation in Urea plant – to reduce dust emission
• Double Contact Double Absorption Process to reduce Sulphur di Oxide emission
• Aluminium Fluoride Plant was installed wherein the Fluorine vapour from the concentrators of Phosphoric acid plant is absorbed and converted as Aluminium Fluoride.
• Elimination of the use of Arsenic tri-Oxide for Carbon di Oxide removal by use of dual activated glycine based technology.
• Switchover to environment friendly Phosphate based Cooling water treatment.
• Phase out of Halon used in fire retardants which releases bromine that depletes the ozone layer.
• Ammonia in Cryo compressor replacing Freon, an Ozone depleting substance
• Green house gases reduction by way of Provision of low NOx burners in reformer
• Low Sulphur Heavy Stock usage in aluminium flouride plant
• Water conservation by reducing, reuse and recycling water wherever possible.
• Green Belt Development in and around the factory and township.
• Fuel switch from fossil to Biomass to generate hot air for drying DAP product.
