School of Mathematics
SPIC Science Foundation founded the School of Mathematics
in 1989 to conduct research in pure and applied mathematics.
The school now operates as an autonomous institution with
a new name--Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI).
The institute is recognized by the University of Chennai as
a center for guiding PhD students. CMI also has a joint Ph
D program with Birla Institute of Science and Technology,
Pilani.
Graduates from CMI are pursuing
higher studies at world-renowned institutions such as
- California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena,
California
- US Johns Hopkins University,
- Baltimore,Maryland, US
- MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts,US
- Rutgers University, Piscataway, New Jersey, US
- Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS), Paris, France
- Max Planck Institutes, Saarbruecken and Bonn, Germany
- ETH, Zürich, Switzerland
CMI has a regular exchange program with Ecole Normale Superieure.
